First Floor Overhaul
LDD was hired to completely redesign a kitchen, dinette, mud room, and powder room after most of the first floor of this home was gutted by a fire. The kitchen features a large walnut island topped with two slabs of a dark, textural granite creating a unique edge detail. The white perimeter is in stark contrast to the island, while black glass and quartz stones create a focal point in the backsplash behind the stove tying the two greatly contrasting elements together. The crown molding and kitchen cabinets have varying depths that create rich shadows that are carried into the dinette area. A silver-leafed chandelier above the dining table complements the mercury glass island lights, and brushed silver fixtures. The mudroom features plenty of storage options with a locker system, lots of hooks to hold bags and coats, and shelving under the bench. For the bathroom, LDD addressed every detail, from the burled walnut in a bookmatched pattern on the vanity to the crystal and brushed nickel hardware. To avoid having an actual rug that would quickly get dirty, LDD designed an area rug pattern in the floor tiles. These individual rooms work together to create an exquisite, fully functional living space that’s the perfect fit for this busy family of five.
